Te Kākano Aotearoa Trust is a local charity inspiring community-led native habitat restoration through propagation, education, and hands-on participation. From their native plant nursery in the heart of Wānaka, Te Kākano grows around 15,000 eco-sourced plants each year for public land restoration projects throughout the Upper Clutha.
In 2024, Te Kākano planted over 5,300 plants with the help of the local community.
Their planting sessions take place in spring, autumn and winter, with maintenance sessions throughout the year to help look after the plants and habitat restoration areas.
