Parkrun started thirteen years ago in London with a group of friends and it has grown to over 1300 events across 19 countries and over 4 million registered participants. Parkrun ‘tourism’ is a thing – and enthusiasts will seek out local Parkruns to attend when visiting a new town or city.
Wānaka Parkrun started in February 2018 and they are proud to have a truly beautiful course beside the lake. Parkrun Wānaka takes place every Saturday morning (8:00am in Summer/daylight savings time, 9:00am in Winter/standard time), starting at the picturesque Wānaka Station Park with an out and back loop to Waterfall Creek. The course is designed to make the most of the great sheltered hub in Station Park with a truly stunning run along the lake path. As is tradition with Parkrun, participants are all invited to meet for a post-event coffee at Edgewater.
Parkrun is organised entirely by volunteers – who do it for the love of it! Participants are encouraged to help by volunteering occasionally.
You must register to take part in this event and you only ever need to do this once – then your barcode will give you access to any parkrun worldwide, including your detailed stats of each run completed.
To register, get in touch or find more info on the Parkrun website.
