Our environment is at the heart of our home. It’s part of who we are, what we love about this place, and why visitors keep coming back time and time again. But with only 10% of indigenous plant cover remaining, over 35 critically endangered species, and declining health in our lakes and rivers, Wānaka’s natural treasures need urgent care.
Every donation, big or small, helps this region thrive long into the future. It’s collective impact, right where it counts. And it’s a meaningful way to show your customers, team, and community that your business is invested in protecting what makes Wānaka so special.
Give now to make a lasting impact before the financial year closes.

Please include the following details:
Your name, organisation name, donor number (per your partnership agreement, if you have one), the payment date and payment amount, and whether it is a direct or a pass-through donation.
Business donors can claim for their direct business donations*.
Please retain your charitable tax receipt for proof of donation. You will be provided with an automated receipt upon payment if you have donated via credit, or within 28 days of payment for all donations made via bank transfer.
All indirect or “pass-through” donations (that is, donations you have collected and are donating on behalf of your customers or others) are not eligible for charitable tax credit in your organisation’s name. Please make all pass-through donations via bank transfer and note that this is a pass-through donation.
All donations are non-refundable.
*Individual donors can claim 33.33 cents for every dollar donated. Companies are also eligible for tax deductions, providing the claim does not exceed their total annual net income. A tax deduction reduces the amount of taxable income. Please see your tax advisor for personalised information.
Each year, we allocate funds to local organisations who operate in the climate, conservation, and biodiversity space, whether that’s through native revegetation efforts, biodiversity protection, pest eradication, waterway monitoring and more.
Funding is available to charitable organisations and initiatives on a contestable basis, with annual grant rounds open each year. Funding decisions are made by an independent distribution committee, with input and advice from the 45South Community Foundation. Click here to find out about our grant criteria and application process.
We have a focus on strategic and collaborative giving so we can support the wider network of projects and initiatives needed to deliver impactful and long-term benefit.
And the best bit? Every dollar is spent exclusively within this region, so you know you’re making a difference to the place you love.
