WAI Wānaka’s First Stormwater Showcase. Do you know where your stormwater goes? From rooftop to roadside, from drain to stream, every drop of stormwater has a journey. Join WAI Wānaka for their very first Stormwater Showcase, a community event highlighting the community in our catchment. Discover practical, hands-on ways you can get involved, right from the source to the stream, and learn how small actions at home and with your neighbours can make a big difference to the health of our waterways. Who You’ll Meet: The Adopt a Drain team from WAI Wānaka – Learn simple, effective steps you can take at home to prevent pollutants from entering local waterways. Bremner Bay Action Group – Showcasing their summer water testing results and sharing insights about the health of Bremner Bay. Wonderful WAI Wānaka volunteers – demonstrating how native plants can be used to create rain gardens and mini wetlands that naturally filter stormwater. Mitre 10 – Discover practical solutions like rain tanks and drain diverters that you can install at home to reduce runoff. Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) – Available to answer your questions about the local stormwater network and how it operates in our district. Otago Regional Council (ORC) – bringing information on their Otago-wide Only Drain Rain programme, as well as a guide to the ORC pollution hotline info, alongside everyone’s favourite 3D model of the Upper Lakes! Let’s see what this community can do to slow the flow! Come along, get inspired, and be part of protecting Wānaka’s waterways for generations to come.
