Wānaka Community Workshop
30th August 2026

The Wastebusters Repair Event is back this month!

Community members are invited to head to the Wānaka Community Workshop on Sunday 30 August, between 10am and 2pm, for a free, wholesome day of repair.

The event’s amazing volunteer repair heroes are at the very heart of these gatherings. They donate their time and skills to give well-loved items a bit of tender loving repair, helping keep good items in use and out of the local landfill.

Anyone with something broken, torn, or non-functional is encouraged to bring it along. No bookings are needed, so visitors can simply drop in throughout the day.

Volunteer fixers will be available to help with clothing, bikes, small furniture, small electrical items, and general tinkering. It promises to be a relaxed, friendly community day filled with good yarns while items get stitched, tuned, or glued back together.

Love tinkering or fixing things?

Organisers are also looking for extra hands. Anyone skilled at fixing zips, bikes, clothes, homewares, or electricals is invited to join the volunteer crew. Even a couple of hours of help makes a huge difference to the day.

It is a proper community Sunday where neighbours help neighbours, one repair at a time. Everyone is welcome to pop in and take part.

This Resourceful Communities event is proudly supported by the Queenstown Lakes District Council Zero Waste District Programme.
