An easy, family friendly walking & biking track that follows the Hāwea River from Wānaka to Lake Hāwea

Suitable for all ages and experience, this riverside walk is over easy country and links Lake Hāwea township to Wānaka, via Albert Town. Near its midway point, the track crosses Camp Hill Road. Track construction is to a high standard and is suitable for both walking and biking. Bikes and prams can cross the swing bridge but need to be carried on the steps at the southern end.

  • Southern End: Albert Town Recreational Reserve
  • Distance: 12 km
  • Time 2.5 -3.5 hours (walking), 1-2 hours (biking)
  • Grade: Easy waking & biking track
