Passionate about making a difference in habitat restoration around the Upper Clutha? Join Te Kākano's community of volunteers at the nursery every Tuesday & Wednesday to lend a hand.
23rd June 2026 - 30th September 2026

Join Te Kākano for a hands-on volunteer session supporting native habitat restoration in the Upper Clutha. Each year, Te Kākano grows and plants thousands of native seedlings, and volunteers play a key role in keeping this work moving.

Tasks change with the seasons and may include propagating native plants, caring for young seedlings in the nursery, watering, or preparing for upcoming planting days. No specific skills or experience are needed – the Te Kākano team will provide guidance throughout the session. All are welcome.

Venus coffee, tea, and snacks are provided, and there’s time to enjoy the views from the deck while you’re there. Roll up your sleeves and lend a hand to local restoration efforts.

Summer sessions (October-March):
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, 9am -12pm

Winter sessions (April-September):
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, 1pm – 4pm

Access to the nursery is through the QEII Reserve, either through the gate or over the nursery stile. You will find some directions here to come to the nursery.

Check out Te Kākano’s Facebook page for any updates or changes.
